Adventures with Bisou

Bisou- A Day in the Life by Kayleigh Kosmas-2Most of you have seen Bisou on the blog and on Instagram before – I’ve posted recipes for her favorite snacks and her white mitten paws pop up in my images all the time. I figured it was time to devote a whole post to Bisou and share just why I love her so much that I bake cookies and knit beds for her. You see, Bisou is much more than a pet or a companion. Bisou is a member of the family. Bisou is my hero. She keeps our household running, protects us from invaders (read: bugs!) and even supervises my cooking. It’s a lot of work for a cat, but Bisou’s heroic efforts are what keep us going! Read on to see what a typical day is like for Bisou and me, and don’t forget to visit STAINMASTER® to read more inspiring stories about hero pets!

6:00 AM | Bisou is an early riser, but knows I like to sleep a little later. Most days, she’s up and out of her bed by 5 or 6 o’clock but is thoughtful enough to wait by my bed on her cat mat until it’s time to wake me up. She’s learned the hard way that if she pounces on me too early in the morning, I get cranky! I don’t even set an alarm because Bisou wakes me up with little kitty headbutts at 7 AM on the dot, every. Single. Day. She’s the most heroically punctual and reliable alarm I could ask for!

9:00 AM | After her post-breakfast nap, Bisou checks the perimeter of our apartment to make sure no bugs have come in through our doors and windows. Lately we’ve had little slugs sneaking in through this sliding door, and Bisou knows how much I hate bugs and slugs of any kind. She also surveys the floors in every room for any critters that need her attention. If any manage to get in, Bisou raises the alarm so we can get rid of the pests. She’ll kill flies and spiders and let me know so all I have to do is vacuum them up. When we had a moth infestation a couple years ago, she’s wake me in the night to let me know they were flying around the bedroom. A pet who protects you from what you fear most? That’s a heroic pet in my book!

11:30 AM | Bisou isn’t just a hero to me – our houseplants are thankful for her, too! As much as I love plants, I have to admit that I’m not the best about checking to see if they need more water. Bisou pokes around the plants once or twice a week, which reminds me to water them. Seriously, when they’re thriving they have Bisou to thank! Also, she never, ever nibbles on them. How’s that for a responsible cat?

2:00 PM | Even if you don’t see Bisou’s paws in a blog post of mine, you can be sure she helped me behind the scenes. Here she is picking out spices for me to add to a recipe I was developing. She was right, it did need some chili powder! Working on my own would definitely get lonely if Bisou weren’t always by my side to bounce ideas off of and give her input in her own unique way. Having an enjoyable job has made me so much happier, less stressed and far more fulfilled than I was before I embarked on this career. And having the world’s best coworker has been a huge part of that! Every day with Bisou is a new adventure, even if we never leave the house.

Guard dogs and therapy animals are obvious heroes, but so are the pets who keep us company at home and are always ready to make us laugh. Bisou’s sense of adventure and willingness to lend a paw make her my hero. Click here to learn more about how STAINMASTER® PetProtect® supports all the adventures you and your pet have in your home. Aw, I loved every word of this, Kayleigh and great photos as usual! Frankie can be a hero sometimes, but her best trait of all is cleaning up the floor after we’re finished making/eating dinner lol! She’s also excellent for keeping my feet warm in bed. Unfortunately her attempts at protecting the house fall short; I’m sure she’d just lick a burglar to death. Although, she has eaten two spiders in the last week, so that’s something!

Thank you so much, lady! Floor clean up is a big deal! And I wouldn’t mind having my own personal foot warmer! Frankie is so adorable. 😻

I agree that pets are part of the family. Each of my 4 cats plays a special role. Karma is my adventure-companion, accompanying me on all of my chores and staying close by whenever I’m inside. 🙂

We absolutely love following along with Karma’s adventures, inside the house and out with the other animals! ❤
